Kid Friendly, Fun Cheese Factory

Been to Gruyere factory... just so-so.... any other recommendations to bring an 8 year old niece along?

And that offers information in English? tours?

Unfortunately, the cheese factory in Engelberg is closed now.

I have been bringing my child on a frequent basis to the British Cheese Centre in Zurich ever since grumpygrapefruit established it. He is now 16 and 6‘3“ - doesn‘t want beer yet, though.

Appenzell one is good - small.

Did you visit the chocolate factory in Gruyere, that’s is good. You could also visit “Moleson” https://www.moleson.ch/en/ if your in the area, they have a toboggan Toboggan | Switzerland Tourism"

There are a couple of places for kids on the road to Martigny, this place “Labyrinthe Aventure” https://www.labyrinthe.ch/index.cfm and this place “Western Center” https://western-city.ch/

If your looking for something a little less commercial than these places are worth a visit “Leysin” https://leysin.ch/ which you can catch via Aigle and “Glacier 3000” https://www.glacier3000.ch/en which is the same direction as Leysin, but follow directions for “Les Diablerets” https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/…es-diablerets/ a good place in itself to go visit too.

Others in the same area, Vevey has a beautiful lake walk with a few kids playgrounds and ice cream places along the way… and the walk from Montreux to “Chillion Castle” https://www.chillon.ch/en/ is a good too, if a little less commercial.

You might want to try the golden express from “Montreux” https://journey.mob.ch/en/ if she likes trains? Although maybe she is a little too young for that.

Never visited it myself, but maybe this one? https://www.tetedemoine.ch/en/visits…ine-a-bellelay The one in Saignelegier is not much fun.

Have you been to Emmenthal? It looks like nothing, but there is a really cool program hidden below the visitor center.

I did a make your own cheese day at Einsiedleln (pre-Covid) with my kid (8) and work colleagues. I think there was a minimum number and you have to pre-book, but you get to make your own cheese which gets posted to you 4 weeks later.

I hope they still do it.

It‘s a smaller cheese factory than Gryere, but really close to the fantastic cathedral too.
