Unbelievable! My 5 year old daughter’s bike was stolen from the playground as she was playing and she had to walk home.

We need something other than a heart for that one…sorry, so sorry for her. She must be very upset. Reassure her that she is safe, and nothing is wrong. She can’t deal with any extra information at that age.

Make sure to check back at the place she left it, even for a couple of days. Some other child may have thought it was theirs and took it home. If there is no contact info on the bike they won’t know how to return it other than the place it was borrowed.

When I was a kid, my cousin had a tendency to come home with random things she “borrowed”, then would return them a day or two later. Took her parents quite a while to dissuade her…
Also check the area around (we recently found a “monopattino” in front of our house abandoned… after 2 weeks, we ended up bringing it to the local Migros (only shop in our village), and leaving it outside hoping the parents would find it). A few days later it was gone, so I can only hope it found it’s original owner.

I fear no robbery. But a neighbor with some issues in the head tried to get into my apartment while I was working from home. Locking the the door since then
Bikes have always been a prime target of theft, that’s nothing new. I’d expect it to be quite the same in your area.
Though at around age 5 I’d think it’s a matter of “borrowing”, children don’t have a solid concept of ownership and therefore of theft at that age yet.
It could also have been an adult who stole it.
Of course, see my notion that bikes were always a prime target for theft.
Yes perhaps. But always have a sticker with your phone number attached. Maybe you will get a call.
