Kids naturalization abroad

Kids naturalization when one parent is abroad .

Hello.Currently my husband is 9,5 years in Switzerland and preparing to apply for naturalization. We have 2 kids (3,5 years and 4 months old ) which have also permit C under my husband .

However I got a job offer in my country of origin and we are thinking that I should relocate with the kids while my husband stays in Switzerland for a few years. However I don’t know what will happen with the application . I really want my kids to obtain the Swiss nationality .

I read somewhere that it’s possible provided that the kids are 50% with the father in Switzerland . But I don’t understand 1-how can they validate this 2- if the kids go to school abroad the 50% is not possible

Any feedback ?

Stay in Switzerland until they have it. I’m fairly sure they need to be here to be included in the application.

Geneva might be different. In Zürich we had to provide a bit of paper showing NickatbaselJnr attends a local school.

I think at this point you have to decide where your medium-term future lies. If your husband applies with the children, and you don’t apply, you will need to come up with a very convincing answer as to why not.

In our case, MrsNickAtBasel is from a country that makes it difficult to hold a dual nationality and this was accepted.

In your case you are planning to take a job abroad and as I understood your post, your husband and children will leave the country the minute they get their Swiss nationality. I certainly would avoid all mention of such things whenever dealing with the application.

Cheers,

Nick

The issue here is that we are not considered married and I am in Geneva 6 years so I won’t be included in the application anyway. It will be only my partner and the 2 kids . For the baby I assume there is nothing to prove but for my older son I will have to prove something regarding school attendance I assume. Maybe I should consult with a lawyer specializing on naturalization

Applicants for Swiss nationality must be “successfully integrated”, know Swiss ways and customs and not pose a risk to the country’s security. They need to speak and write a national language. Males will be required to do military service.

Do your kids qualify?

You saw their age, right??

They are minors but they qualify because their status is connected to the father . Recently a friend of mine got it for her kid who was 4 years old . They are included in the parents application.

Under a certain age, once they achieve majority and if they don't opt to do community service instead. I got citizenship aged 53. I didn't have to do military service.

Thus doing the military a service.

You missed out on something there !
