Anybody had recently a water birth in the Hirslanden clinic?
Which is the best Klinik im Park or Hirslanden?
I'm 12 weeks pregnant so I have time to decide
I will be really really happy to hear all your experiences!!
thank's

As long as both give you the option of a water birth, you need not concentrate on that aspect of your choice, but rather on which suits your own requirements better.
It is great to have plans as to how your labour will progress and having maximum flexibility is probably the best plan of all, as none of us quite know what will happen until it does.
I planned a home water birth for my first .. went to a lot of bother of getting a birthing pool set up etc, used it for a few hours and then, because I was useless at pushing, had to come out and eventually had the baby in the living room.
With my second, I also planned a home birth but decided to not bother with the water pool as it was too much like hard work. In the end, he was in a hurry, and was born in the bath
I concur with what the others say and would add the following:
1) Have a look at both Kliniks and see which one you like best. If you like both the same just go for the one closer to home/easily accessible by husband after work
2) I had water birth at the KIP. Great experience Could only do it with baby #2 as baby #1 had a too big head and doc was scared she would get stuck. Hence, as said, have a wish but keep flexible as you may have to decide different on the day itself
And of course... congrats

With my 8 grandchildren, only half have been born in the way my daughters would have liked, and the others were born safely but not always 'to plan'.
Be prepared is a very good motto - not only for the Girl-Guides.
Hirslanden has a huge tub.
Each to their own!
I digress the waterbirth was fantastic it took away the head crowning pain and as my contractions for the last birth were not only in the front but in my back it eased this pain as soon as I got in... once the baby is born though you have to deliver the afterbirth outside so they can make sure it all comes away cleanly etc. Oh and the waterbirth was the only one where no stitches needed despite a very quick entry by my son!
Congratulations on your pregnancy and wish you a very healthy pregnancy x
I had my second and third children at Hirslanden Aarau - sorry I don't live in Zurich...
Appart from the atmosphere and distance from home/your partners work place I would also ask your doctor where he/she will deliver. Being able to have your own gynocologist at the birth can be a real help. During the pregnancy you can already talk about your ideas of how you would like the birth to be, and your preference to pain relief etc. As many have said birth often happens differently to your ideal plan, and this way you and your doctor can make decisions easier.
Good luck with it all.
