Hi all,
Did my homework and searched the forum for "knee" "knees" etc. but could not find something that will help with my question (or maybe this just doesn't exist like back home in Singapore).
Does anyone know of a good sports therapist/specialist (I don't think I need to see an orthopedic surgeon) that can help with fitting of a good knee support/brace? We have sports clinics like that back home that do a through checkup on problematic joints and recommends the right shoes/knee bands etc. Wondering if Zurich has something like that?
I run almost everyday (5km) and maybe its the sloppy terrain here but the clicking in my knees have started again, possibly from a bad sprain 4 years ago. I really don't want to give up on my running so any help appreciated!
Thank you!
Sounds like you need to assess your running style before putting on a band aid and continuing as you have been. May I suggest a running course with our Swiss running coach par excellence? hillseeker.com
I think there are plenty of places that do what you are asking for. I went to the central Zürich branch of Sportclinic in Tödistrasse and they seemed quite good.
Have you seen a doctor about this? Sounds like possibly meniscus damage, in which case you need to choose between surgery and no more running. Seriously, don't just dismiss this or try to live with it, it will only get worse if not treated.
Of course, it might not be anything needing medical attention, which would be great, but why risk it?
I agree with Assassin above. Don't assume you need knee support before examining the knee itself and running style. I ruptured my ligaments years ago and assumed i NEED knee support. After going to Cross Klinik they advised against any knee support to allow the muscles to compensate for the missing ligament. Have been running half-marathons and squatting with heavy weights since then with no knee pain.
