Knitting Pattern Help

Hello to all the knitters out there. Is there anyone that could translate a knitting pattern in German to English for me? I saw a really lovely hat in Hand Art and they gave me the pattern but my German isn't good enough to read it.

My head is getting very cold so eternal thanks from my brain.

I'd be happy to do it from French. Be careful with tension/size. The Swiss/German method is quite different (in UK you wrap the wool around the needle with your finger, whereas in Switzerland you sort of giggle the needles around the wool). My mil and I always used to have competitions at which was faster! UK patterns were always a problem for me, even if I used the wool recommended - as it always turned out bigger. Hope somebody can help.

Sorry cannot help. I can only read English ones. BUT maybe a tip: contact the website of the publishers, they very probably have also an English site and can you can get an English version through them... Hope that helps... Translating the things is a biaaaaaaatch....

Hi longicorn, I'd be willing to give it a go - no guarantees but hopefully better than no translation!

I'm a beginner knitter, so probably not your best bet for translating the pattern, however if you do get it translated and want to try and knit German-style, this site has brilliant videos for stitches in continental and English versions: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips

By the way, does anyone know where to find Debbie Bliss BabyCashmerino wool in Basel - I have four babies back in the UK to knit for and supplies are running out! (not my babies, btw, haven't emigrated and left them behind)

Planetali, don't know about Basel, but Wollwirrware in Bern has the Cashmerino in their online shop (and probably in the physical shop as well if you wanted to take a trip to Bern.) http://www.wollwirrware.ch/

Thanks Wednesday, that's great - they've got a good stock there, will have a shufti.

After googling and then wandering round Basel yesterday afternoon, I came up with nothing, so came back and looked at the online option. Also found Vilfil in another thread on here, which is also a great online shop, and has physical shop in Zurich.

I've also found loads on ebay and in a website called www.wollywood.de but these are in Germany, not sure if I'll get done for customs ordering online over the border?

Looking at it all, I've ended up ordering from your wollwirrware site, so thank you!!
