Lake Swimming - Greifensee & Pfaffikersee

Hi all - just wondering about the quality of the lake swimming / facilities etc in both of these lakes. I swam quite a bit last summer in Lake Zurich (tiefenbrunnen mainly).

Just wondering is the water quality as high and the swimming as nice in both of these places as Zurich, or which do you think is better for swimming etc.

Thanks

There are two Badis on the Greifensee (at least two main ones). The Bad Egg (I lust love that name) is smaller has basically a kiosk and beach area and is on the far end past Maur.

The better one that has more facilities is basically right at the town of Greifensee and always looks to be full with volleyball, a good-szied lawn, etc... For my money, I think this would be the better option for what you're looking for.

I think there alo might be a badi directly across the lake from Greifensee. But to be honest, I don't know much about it or about the Pfaffikersee.

Great - thanks for the advice. anyone any other thoughts on either of these lakes? Is really for swimming / lounging / relaxing in the summer etc I'm wondering

Thanks!

I've never been swimming in the Pfäffikersee... when I go to the Greifensee (which I do regularly as I work in Uster), I rarely use the Badi's. There is one in Niederuster, though, which is large and has a restaurant plus plenty of lounging space (as well as a normal swimming pool that is quite large).

A colleague of mine trains in the Greifensee for triathlons, but if the summer is too warm, the Greifensee can get a bit green. :-)

That's as much as I know!

Swimming - Greifensee 9.5 out of 10. Zurichsee 9.5 out of 10

Lounging - Greifensee 8 out of 10. Zurichsee 9 out of 10

Relaxing - Greifensee 9 out of 10. Zurichsee 7 out of 10.

Check out the Zugersee, which is also really cool (in a good sense).

Greifensee is grand for a swim

I used to live there, fond memories.

Me again! I was at the Greifensee today and noticed that the Badi in Niederuster has two new and very nice beach volleyball courts! If you're into that... :-)

I rode past the badi in Niederuster yesterday and it was packed and overflowing onto the grass outside the pool. I'm going back tomorrow to do a mini-triathlon to train for the Uster Tri in August.
