Lake Thun - Niesen or Niederhorn

Hi,

We are planning to go to Lake Thun tomorrow, and we need to choose between Niesen and Niederhorn.

1. We are going with two 5 year olds. so which one would be better?.

2. Which one of them has a better view from the top?.

Thanks for any info.

Niesen has better views but there is little to keep two young children occupied for long.

Niederhorn has more organised activities, and other attractions nearby such at Beatus caves.

Niesen

Niederhorn

Beatus Caves

St. Beatus and the caves (Beatushöhlen)

I'd go to the Niederhorn. Niederhorn with its meadows is much more "childfriendly". If you are up to a walk you can either do the bit Niederhorn to Vorsass or Vorsass to Beatenberg.

Both offer decent views, but I still prefer the Niederhorn. You see both lakes, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Any other activities recommended in that area?

We will be 2 families, with kids.

Most of the cable cars and other attractions i was looking at are already closed at this time of year

How old are the kids?

oh- wide range. from 16 down to 5. we will need to focus with the little ones, i think.

try Stockhorn, cable car is open and it is quite easy even with kids, even with snow, there are two lakes you can walk around or maybe you can even rent sled, I am not sure, you have to check, Niederhorn is good for sledging, I did it last year, however for a 5 year old kid maybe too steep sometimes..
