So today I discovered this sort of global pronunciation Wiki called Forvo, and am most pleased to be able to post this:

It is sort of a pet peave of mine that many in the English-speaking community in Lausanne insist on pronouncing the name of the city in such a way that it rhymes with "clothes on" or worse "cows on". But here we have it from a native. The last syllable rhymes with "pan" or "can" not "on" or "gone". For a French rhyme example try this:

Happened to me just a month ago at Zurich airport train station ticket counter.

- Hi, one way ticket to Lausanne [loˈzan] please.

- Luzern [luˈtsɛɐn]?

- No, no, [loˈzan].

- Aaa, [luˈtsɛɐn]!

Yes, I think the allophones are responsible for much of the confusion.

If Lausanne is in French-speaking Switzerland, shouldn't that be 'allo'allophones?
