Lausanne - Yverdon CFF closed 30/5/24

Just received an alert that this line is closed due to flooding. Once again the inadequate infrastructure in romandie comes back to haunt us.

The IC5 Geneva - Zurich vv obviously affected. Replacement bus between Morges and Yverdon. Better to travel via Lausanne.

Interrupted train service on the Yverdon-les-Bains - Lausanne line between Yverdon-les-Bains and Chavornay.
This is due to storm damage.
The restriction lasts at least until 23:55.
Lines IC5, R1 and R2 are affected.
No trains are running.
Passengers travelling between Yverdon-les-Bains and Chavornay should use the replacement bus service.
Passengers travelling between Yverdon-les-Bains, gare and Morges, gare should use the replacement bus service.
Passengers travelling between Genève-Aéroport, Genève, Morges, Lausanne and Biel/Bienne, Solothurn will travel via Bern.
Passengers travelling between Genève-Aéroport, Genève, Morges, Lausanne and Olten, Aarau, Basel SBB, Zürich HB, St. Gallen will travel via Bern.
Passengers travelling between Genève-Aéroport, Genève, Morges, Lausanne and Neuchâtel will travel via Fribourg/Freiburg.

This doesn’t look too good. I travel a couple of times a week Basel to Zurich and this week has been unpleasant in terms of weather but we haven’t had a single delay.

A tiny bit of rain and they cancel the trains. They’re getting as bad as British Rail! :stuck_out_tongue:

On-site maintenance service

Our track specialists are on site to assess the work that needs to be done to get trains running again. It should be noted that the ballast (the stones that stabilise the track) has been partly washed away by the violent waters. We will have to put this ballast back in place before our trains can run without a problem which will take some time.

Hello everyone. Rail traffic has partially resumed since the start of the day, with R1/R2 trains and some IR trains running during rush hour. IC5 traffic remains interrupted between Yverdon and Lausanne and between Yverdon and Morges. Travellers between Lausanne/Morges and Yverdon are invited to use the replacement buses that are running. Travellers to Biel/Bienne, Solothurn are advised to travel via Bern. Customer assistants are available at these stations to make your journey easier. The disruption is expected to last until 2pm. I’ll get back to you as soon as new information becomes available.
