Learn Tango in Argentina-anyone been there, done that?

Hello,

Has anyone been to Argentina for travel and tango learning, I would be interested in hearing any experiences good or bad regarding the tango learning part of the holiday.

Thank you

Gazzy

Hi Gazzy,

I did tango in argentina about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it.

I was in Buenos Aires for 2 weeks and did pretty much a private lesson everyday. I would travel at 9am (peak hour) with the local crowd, do my lesson, grab a fresh orange juice and an empanada after and then meet up with my traveling buddy for the rest of the day.

We also went to quite a few milongas, some with my teacher. It was really a lot of fun

I'm not big into group lessons so I can't say how that would've worked out. But certainly I can recommend the teacher I used. She also does have group classes.

Cheers,

Nanda.

Hi Nanda,

Thanks for that info, Im not sure if I do a group or privale lessons but if you have the name of the teacher you used I would appreciate if you could PM it to me.

Im sure its going to be lots of fun

Thanks

Gazzy

My wife has acquaintances in Buenos Aires. I'll ask after tango lessons and if they know anything useful, will PM you.

Thanks Nomadic, that would be great

Better late than never:

Julieta Lotti at the school "El Baile" ( [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) phone +54 (11) 4312 0516).

Cafe Tortoni ( http://www.cafetortoni.com.ar )

Both of these are recommended by native Argentineans, one of whom is working (and has for many years) in Buenos Aires. Enjoy!

Thanks. Was thinking of doing the same thing - dance holiday. can you remember the approx cost for private lessons? I know probably has changed a bit now.

Sorry, haven't taken paid lessons myself. Only through family & friends and I need a lot more practice before I'll be seen in public

These tips are on the advice of close friends from Bs. As. I can ask after prices, though the reply takes awhile (the best info comes from a friend who now has a 3 month old, so her attentions are elsewhere...)

By the way, if you take tango lessons, I've been told one should also try Milonga .
