Thanks
My Son wants to do an English course in London with a Language School. We thought of EF International School or Linguista school where the whole thing is arranged from here ( accommodation and lessons ). Any other suggestions.
Personally I believe that to learn English you should avoid all the touristy areas- like London, Oxford, Cambridge, and other seaside resorts full of language schools. Otherwise the kids just end up speaking their own language only as soon as lessons are over. One of my colleagues worked for one of the organisations mentioned, and I'd say it was a bit like a cattle market- with only 2 staff, 1 experienced teacher and 1 student, for about 30 kids they didn't know in a big City like London. I used to run language courses in the Midlands- 6 students with varied mother-tongues and it worked brilliantly.
How old is your son and what stage is he at school-wise.
I agree with Odile.
When I went abroad to (try) to learn English I chose a town with only Japanese and German people.
There were also a few Swiss-German, but hopefully they never spoke french with me
(I was in Australia)
I also agree with Odile.
Nevertheless, I did four different courses at LSI Hampstead London ( http://www.lsi.edu/en/ ) and I haven't met many German speakers there. But this is only the case in Hampstead, I've heard it is quite the opposite at LSI London Central and LSI Brighton.
Hello. My son is 16 and he's doing the first year of an apprenticeship in the Office. He's learnt English from Swiss Primary and secondary school and he understands English but has reservations to speak it. I speak alot of English with him.
He was thinking about a course in London with this school.
