Learning German near Solothurn

Hi there!

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a language school located in or around Solothurn, that teaches German and / or Swiss German?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, did you ever get a reply to this one? I am in the same boat!!

Hi!

I am now currently learning German intensively! I started at Migros Klubschule in Langendorf but this was pretty **** as they could never tell you if the class would continue after the 1st month. I ended up doing two courses there and then waited 5 weeks (during the summer holidays) for them to tell me there wasn't enough people to continue

It worked out to be better though because i transfered over to Migros Klubschule in Bern - the classes are 5 days a week (not 4) and from 8am (sounds horrible doesn't it?!) to 10.50am (not 9am-10.50am) I have learnt so much since being there and have met some amazing people from all over the world! Much better compared to Langendorf and its much bigger in Bern too!

Mind you, i have a really great teacher at the moment and i don't know what i would have done without him! I've now been there for 4 months (B1/1 now!!) but i do have to tell you that during my second month my teacher went on holidays and i got a horrible teacher - she would make students feel like **** if they didn't understand and would laugh at some of us too. Definately not want you need when learning a language - i suppose though its the luck of the draw. No matter where you go - it all depends on the teacher, the atmosphere, your enthusiasm and your fellow students!

Good luck with everything, German can be hard at times but just stick to it!

By the way, you can't start a Swiss German class at Migros until your an A2-B1 level in German - which i intend to start soon!!

Good luck!

Opps! I don't think I'm allowed to write ****! **** sorry!

Hello i am recently married and also trying to find a language course in/near Solothurn. I know of an Immigration course that also contains language but not sure if I'll make the deadline to start when it begins in August. If I don't I will be looking for an alternative school. If anyone found out anything I would love to hear about it! Thanks!

Misszula,

Have you found your school yet?

Yes I have, thank you I am taking Level 1 of an integration course in Solothurn which lasts 3 months. THis course has 4 levels and covers both language and culture.

Welcome. Happy learning also. I have attended VHS SO before and it is quite good.

Although I have been living in Solothurn for the past 41 years (now Feldbrunnen just down the road) I never actually took a German course here. I learnt Russian at the Migros Klubschule in Langendorf for 10 years and found it quite a good course. Otherwise, from what I have heard, the VHS is quite good for learning languages. I learnt German in England for 2 years before I arrived, and then had to rethink. I now speak mainly Swiss German, but can manage with high German. I just picked it up from my husband and the kids.
