Lemon Laws

hi I am considering buying a second hand car in Switzerland from a warehouse dealer type: ie huge car lot in Regensdorf. no warrenty etc available. my question: is there a "lemon law" in switzerland? ie a law giving right to give up car after a short period, say 30 days if it proves to have a mechanical fault?

advice appreciated

there's no such thing as consumer protection in Switzerland - that goes for cars as well. you could probably sue the dealership for deliberately trying to deceive you but that's very unlikely to be successful and will cost you a crapload of money.

my advice: always buy used cars from official dealerships. I've had my fair share of very negative experiences from those "Autohändler" and will never ever ever buy a car from one again.

Caveat Emptor, "sold as seen"....or buy from a dealer that offers a comprehensive guarantee.

Why should there be laws to protect you from your own ignorance or stupidity. Pay for a professional to examine the car if you don't know what you are doing. Join a car club (TCS) and get them rto examine the car, that way you have a recourse.

I am very wary of the Autohandlers in that area - they are dodgier than me!!

I have bought from different types of dealers and always been happy - primarily because I know what I am looking for and I make sure all the work is done.

The best car I bought was from a small mechanic for <3000chf
