Lewis hamilton

Late last year, whilst shopping in Manor, Vevey, we saw Anthony Hamilton, Lewis Hamilton's dad. When we heard him speak to someone that he was with, it confirmed that it was him. Then subsequently, it was reported in the British press that Lewis was moving to Switzerland. Can anyone confirm that he did move here and does anyone know where to?

Yes, he's moved to Switzerland in order to avoid paying taxes in the country that he's happy to represent whilst earning millions for himself.

I sense a bit of jealousy.

I've read that he moved to Luins in Kanton Vaud.

I also read he moved to Vaud, i think hes been here a while

I read he bought an apartment in Geneva.

Then you sense wrong, I'm afraid.

Why do some people automatically assume that when you critise someone rich, you must be jealous. - Says more about you, to be honest.

Personally, I have want for little more than I have right now & I'm very happy thank you & wouldn't want to be in that guy's public shoes for all the tea in china.

Good on him, he is brilliant, he deserves it and I am sure that he will spread his wealth accordingly. Is the British Government the best at appropriating taxes? Anyway, how many of us are paying tax in our country of origin?

Yes, I'm sure he will.

Why the criticism then? Sounds like he deserves a bit of empathy. What's his business is his business. Worry about the happiness in your own life as opposed to how he seems to be stealing hard-earned money from the Brits.

Whatever....

It's just great how people will stick up for others such as Hamilton.

I agree with NBP - racing around in a bl**dy silly car, pretending you're doing something worthwhile and reaping the glory for goodness knows what, then going to live somewhere else cos you can't stand the British public recognising you all the time (diddums) and you certainly don't want to pay the high taxes in that bl**dy country.......

Yeah - what a great bloke!!

Empathy? Not from me. Not until I can learn to drive a car around in circles; have more money than I know what to do with; and waste champagne by spraying it all over attractive young ladies, then he'll have no empathy from me.

Sympathy, perhaps. But no empathy.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, he won't get any sympathy from me, either.

Hi Brightonite, from a fellow brightonion (Ok, I'm from Hove actually...)

Going back to the original question, Hamilton lives in Luins, and half of the F1 drivers live somewhere in Switzerland:

Kimi Räikkönen: Wollerau/SZ

Felipe Massa: Wollerau/SZ

Lewis Hamilton: Luins/VD

Heikki Kovalainen: Coppet/VD

Fernando Alonso: Mont-sur-Rolle/VD

David Coulthard: Villars/VD

Nick Heidfeld: Stäfa/ZH

Robert Kubica: Hinwil/ZH

Jarno Trulli: Pontresina/GR

Sebastian Vettel: Walchwil/ZG

Adrian Sutil: Oensingen/SO

Sebastien Bourdais: Morges/VD

And that's only the list from the CURRENT drivers - Schumi has been in Switzerland for years for example...

Unfortuantly all too far away from me to meet them in my local Coop, but I'm happy to watch them wizz round the track every few weeks and let them enjoy some peace and quiet off-season Still a shame that Switzerland doesn't want to have a F1 track as getting to a race is difficult these days with (soon to be) 2 small children...

Is that how you are signing yourself out these days?

I would, but only the last two apply to me.

I've only been using this website for a few weeks and I've read a fair bit of your imput. Dougal's Breakfast, you are funnier than the great man Paul Whitehouse himself.

Oooooh! Stop it!

he's only really that funny because we've mo(u)lded him that way.

Rather like a French cheese, mouldy and rather unappealing on the outside but soft and all gooey in the middle.

Is that an apt description DB?

Almost perfect I'd say, except that you missed... normally accompanied by a full bodied red.
