Some of my Swiss favourites have started appearing at Lidl in England.
Their offers this week include Fondue kits (not as good as making from fresh ingredients but more convenient), Raclette cheese and grills, Tête de Moine cheese (The genuine stuff, Girolle cut rosettes!).
It makes life a bit easier than trying to load the suitcases up when I am over there
Excellent news thanks. I've sent my Dad a small raclette set for his birthday on Christmas eve and have been trying to find a supermarket in the UK that stock raclette.
Lidl do sell raclette cheese but only on the week that they sell the machines They do not sell the cheese over the whole winter period.
Every year about this time they sell the machine and the cheese is on offer but thats it. (In fact my english neighbour bought the machine this week and they do not have the cheese
Yes it would be great if Lidl in Switzerland sold some of those fabulous goods I just viewed that are available in the UK. Lidl Gland have the fabulous CRISPY DUCK frozen. 10.99 only.
The problem with Lidl is that when you find something you like, there is never any guarantee it will ever appear on the shelves again! I don't know why their Vanilla Bourbon icecream in the blue box goes out of the fridges at the end of every August. In its place is a giant size red box but it is not the premium one like in the blue boxes. No use asking why either. I don't now bother going anywhere near Migros or Coop as their prices are much higher and their quality no better.
Shopping at Lidl is indeed a bit like the lottery- you never know what you will find there! And as said, if you ever will find it again.
Must say if we are going to ingest the calories from raclette- might as well have the best. A bit more expensive, but will always buy 'proper raclette cheese' not cellophane wrapped- lots of taste and not so much fat- life's too short for not choosing the best raclette.
Hello Odile. I am off raclette now but loved it when younger. LIDL actually did have the proper machines at a reasonable price not so long ago. I am crazy on their CRISPY DUCK in the freezer but it is fast disappearing and I am certain will never be seen again! I did go for their CRIVIT clothes line. Perfect fitting garments and if they do not suit you, they take the things back and reimburse immediately, no questions asked, just a signature. I like this very much as don't live far away. It means I can try on in the comfort of my own place. Their underwear is excellent. I also like the idea we can find Chinese specialities all year round.
