Lindt chocolate with Wasabi

Oh yes! Lindt Excellence à la Wasabi.

It's relatively common now to get chocolate with chilli, and although it's always marketed as something very trendy, I don't really rate it. It's only good for adding to an Indian curry imo (although I usually just use dark chocolate for that).

But this Lindt chocolate with wasabi is stunning. I'll definitely buy it again.

Don't know where to buy it from in Switzerland but in Marktkauf (German supemarket just outside Basel, owned by Edeka) they have it for €1.50.

If the thought sounds shocking, then I can shock you more by saying that I've had tasty wasabi ice-cream too, but that's just me

According to the Lindt CH website, they carry/produce it in CH. From my experience, the best selection tends to be in the larger Coop stores. Manor is not bad either.

They would definitely have it at their stores. Addresses at this link.

It's in my local Coop.

Warning: it really tastes wasabi especially as after-taste. It combines well with the bitter dark chocolate but the "ensemble" (French is just classier) is not sweet at all. There is something dry about it, well "sec" (staying classy), but not overly spicy either. If you like creamy, forget it, if you like powerful taste, go for it.

Thanks Verbier, although it's not that I couldn't find it, simply that I do most of my shopping in France or Germany so hadn't even looked. It's probably more expensive here, too! Often the way when buying one of a country's famous exports.

Too true, Faltrad. I don't like creamy chocolates generally (too much Dairy Milk as as kid) and find this one a really good blend of dark chocolate with a spicy aftertaste. As I said, I don't like the chilli ones (and I tried enough as I wanted to like them) so this is a good find for me.

I have some in my desk, bought it in CH but don't like it! Love wasabi love dark choc but just don't like this mix. You're welcome to it if you want but its a little nibbled at!

love the wasabi choco too. i really like dark with different flavors though so for me it makes sense. it is certainly a special taste and doesn't go with everything. a square with a glass of good red wine though is perfect.

as for the chili choco, i really like it- but i don't like the lindt version at all. we had a mexican version in ny that was great but i can't remember the name .

best when made into a thick hot chocolate.

just today tried out a chocolate experiment with my son-dark choco squares with pomegranate and ginger. must say they were very good...

Use it the next time you cook something spicy. Maybe add it to some beef stock gravy?

that is a good idea. or a soup. gonna try that if i don't eat it first.

Chilly dark chocolate in tomato sauce. Mix up long cooked beef in spiced up stock.

One puts a bit of dark chocolate in Bœuf bourguignon too.

What's with all that wasabi hysteria? I detest the stuff.

The only hysteria I've noticed is in your post. Hater!!!!

LOL where was there any hysteria in my post? Explain yourself.

In this thread, the strongest word used seems to be "detest". So I'm not sure where you're getting your hysteria vibe from.

If it's from my OP then, well, I'm like this with most foods. I'm just a greedy pig gourmand.

thanks for clearing things out. I was not referring to any kind of hysteria expressed in this thread but rather to the overall, general wasabi hysteria. Everywhre you go you get wasabi this and wasabi that offered.

And btw I thought you were a gourmet, now i find you're a gourmand

Off topic, but French does sound classier.

I think a gourmand is fatter :-)

The big underground coop in Bern has it downtown, I bought it there back in December.

I saw this at the Lindt stand at the Swiss Olympic hospitality in London last August but didn't fancy the idea of it. I haven't spotted it in stores in the UK though.

I love the chilli version and the salted almond one though

Thats a great idea, and actually Ill give it another try when I'm in the mood, I bought it as a Xmas treat for myself - So thanks for this thread cos I actually forgot I still had it!
