Links and addresses (recommendations) in regards to anything 'wedding-y' around Bern

EE and her Pirate are tying the knot, if everything goes to plan it'll happen later this year an'all.

I am looking for recommendations of reasonable priced shops (NOT BRIDAL wear and gear!!) in and around Bern, that sells festive clothing suitable for a registry office wedding.

Did you have a pleasant experience personally in such a shop and would recommend it to me?

Did you hear through the (family) grapevine of such shops?

Grateful for any and all info on this matter that I can get.

I am totally out of the loop of what's on offer (due to long absence from Bern) in regards to such things and I don't want to go trudging through countless shops, because I don't have the time to.

Thanks bunches and heaps in advance for any hints and tips of where to go

Congratulations!

Congratulations! I thought you were looking for Christmas jumpers when I read the thread title.

Gerry Weber has some nice things but it might be a bit pricey, I usually buy stuff in the sales. It’s on the right hand side of the main street where Globus is (after Globus), can’t remember the street name off the top of my head.

Are you looking for what people call “bohemian” or “boho”?

I can’t remember the name, but there used to be a really nice, reasonably priced boutique on the main drag, near the movie theatre (past the clock) . So not very specific, sorry.

I do recall several funky shops in that vicinity.

Congratulations!

Congratulations EE - wishing you and the Pirate every happiness!

Huge congratulations.

Thanks!

Am looking for anything but a Deux-Pieces (making me look like Miss Moneypenny), nor a classical bridal gown incl. kitchen curtain mustn't necessarly be floor-lenght but should be a tad flattering for a lady of traditional build ........

Phase 8 has some nice flattering dresses. They have stand alone stores and concessions in stores such as Manor, Globus and Loeb.

I don’t know where they are in Bern so you’d need to google that but there is a nice one in Manor in Bienne.

Congratulations EE. Wishing you both all the very best for the future

Just to get an idea of what you're looking for, please have a browse here to see if anything suits your taste https://www.monsoonlondon.com/en-ch/wedding

I quite like this combo and the dress comes in up to EU50 https://www.monsoonlondon.com/en-ch/...0.1/6401164608

CONGRATULATIONS, EastEnders and Pirate! This is happy news.

EE, are you looking for a white dress, or specifically one which is not white?

Thank you for our congratumalations Blueangel,xx

That second dress is really something that I would wear. That style is simple but chic! Time and again it has been proved that when I order clothes from a catalogue or online, for sure they won't fit. For this occasion, to go into a shop and try on what they have on offer, is a MUST. But you hit the nail on the head style wise!!!

Thank you very much Doropfiz,xx.

I am loooking for something non white. e.g. a darker beige, silver-grey/grey, light yellow, light or dark purple/violet, this is why I should be able to go and check out 'just' festive gown/dress stores in Bern, mustn't be a bridal shop at all.

Thank you too roegner, Belgianmum, RufusB, Meloncollie and edot for your input and congratulations.

Congrats, EE!

I don't have any shop recommendations but I did move your thread to other/general, because it's definitely related to life in Switzerland and not off-topic.

That's a shame but I understand you want to be absolutely sure how it will look. I was just thinking strong CHF, weak GBP, and British passion for 'prom dresses' means there's a wide selection of suitable styles available that aren't in white. It's definitely worth thinking about for any accessories though.

Herzlichi Gratulation!

Can't help with a specific shop in Berne but my mother bought her dress for my brothers wedding in a bridal shop. Just ask for dresses for the mother of the bride ;-). They won't be white though.

Maybe check Esprit online. They still have sale so you might be able to get a bargain. You can also have things sent to their store and try it on there. Mostly no shipping fees and you only pay for what you buy. Also check with Gerry Weber and other stores. Many offer these. Depending on your size also check Ulla Popken. Online they have some nice things. The story in Zurich I don't like.

Alles, alles Gueti!

Congratulations!

Im in Geneva so i dont know your area but I know that Manor has some nice things.

And believe it or not, i got some really nice evening dresses from C&A. Cheap as well

I was in Bern today and walked past phase 8 ( street near the hb) they had a lot dresses inside. Not sure of your style but they had more “festive” rather than business looks. On the same street were a couple other boutiques and the PKZ (I think).

I forget the street name but it’s the one where the staufacher bookstore is located.

Phase 8 stuff is gorgeous.

Thanks everyone for the input, will most certainly take a stroll through the mentioned shops in Bern.

Registry office is booked and I now have a little over a month to get a frock. Wish me luck!
