As I understand it, when Mark died he left some money to keep the forum going. This was held in trust by his family and has been used to help the forum. Donations have also been going into this pot to keep the place going.
I spoke to Lob a while ago and he was talking about moving the server to new hardware, this I think has now happened and some of the money has been used to do that.
The domain name etc I think are owned by this trust. Lynn seems to have had a problem with the way this was being handled. I don't know who owns the trust, but I assume Lynn was trying to make them support the forum in some way and they weren't.
So right now the remaining mods I assume(evilshell, nathu, nanda, etc.) are trying to work out how to keep the forum solvent and running and work out a way of moving forward with the trust.
That is what I have pieced together from reading threads and a few odd chats. It may all be complete rubbish.

Like I said, I have no insider information, apart from the odd PM with Lob and gooner.
Everything I have written has been said elsewhere on the forum at various times, or hinted at.
There may be legal, or other reasons why the identity of the owners isn't clear. I think the mods though are trying to get this sorted out, which is why they aren't posting information about it..because it's still up in the air.

The site was pretty good. People have and continue to blindly give money to it without knowing where the money is going or what it is being used for, this is bad.
Why is it so difficult to give a clear statement about who owns the site? This should be a piece of ****. It's lost all credibility in my eyes.
Forum belongs to Mark's estate inother words his family. He left no money for the running of the forum.
I left for different reasons. Seeing that the Admins walked out I attempted to contact them to try (yet again) to secure EF as it was Mark's "baby" and I feel responsible. Suprise suprise, no response.
They've probably left because they were sick and tired of everyone second guessing and questioning their actions. However, as is yet again evident, the lack of information and clarity is probably and quite understandably the reason why so many people are second guessing and questioning.
My "beef" is simply with this unclear, cloak and dagger, behind closed doors, secrecy approach. Though not everyone needs to know everything I did attempt to help Nathu set up the EF in a clear legal strucutre... However the admins had their reasons to back away from it...They hold the keys..
I too wish them all the best and thank them for their hard work.

There is no PC account. It all went over cash in hand after fundraisers and paypal.
Again I can only repeat, I wanted this to CHANGE by setting up a legal structure and ensure that your donations etc were accounted and overseeable.
NO ADMIN OR MOD HAS MADE ANY FINANCIAL GAIN.

Lynn thanks for answering as it must be difficult for you to deal with all these issues plus some of us probably don't make it easier on the forum
Anyway if the 3 mods have definitely left and considering that they were heavily involved in the back end side of EF what does the future hold for EF? Do you have access to www.englishforum.ch domain, servers etc or is that a tricky situation?
My opinion is that admins and mods should simply stop discussing all this behind the scenes stuff in public. It shouldnt even be up for discussion on the forum. And i have no vested interest in anything. I just see that this stuff is helping to turn a drama into a real crisis.
from some of the recent posts here, you would think that some of the normal forum members are majority shareholders in EF plc. Your egos may think you are... but although no doubt you cannot see it... you arent. Do you really think that the title "forum veteran" makes you somehow entitled to know everything about the runnings of the forum? We already saw what the moniker of Forum Legend has done to one or two members, have we not.
