Hi everybody

Hi everybody
I’m looking for hotel accommodation in London for a family this summer. Nothing fancy, but fairly central would be good.

I would always recommend staying in the suburbs e.g. Wembley, Harrow (I have a NW London bias). There is plenty of hotel choices of varying standards, prices are much lower and you have a quick Metropolitan line connection into town e.g. Wembley Park to Baker Street is only 15 mins on the tube and the service runs until midnight.
Alternatively look at the Travelodge and Premier Inn chains (across London), they are business level quality with a fairly uniform standard and cheaper prices.
I’d recommend not staying in the suburbs.
I’d stay somewhere where you can step out of your hotel and basically be in the thick of it.
It just makes it a much more exciting trip - especially for kids.
A 15 minute journey into the centre of London always ends up taking half an hour with a walk to the tube, wait for the train and so on.
As for hotels, I’d get something clean, functional and basic. It’s not as if you would plan to dine in your hotel unless it was something special (and very expensive).
Last year we stayed in Kensington and it was ideal. Close to everything, quiet, albeit a bit pricey.
That’s fine too, but compare hotel prices especially for longer stays. Having a few reference points is never a bad thing.
I’d recommend airBnB for longer stays - especially with kids.
Not airbnb we are boycotting US stuff at the moment.
Other property rentals are available.
For example, this platform is 100% European. Cheap accommodation in London, United Kingdom - Flatio and works very well.
