I'm wondering if someone has some advice on vehicle storage. I have a vehicle in the Schaffhausen area (but could be stored anywhere, to be honest) that I would like to store (indoors/weather protected), usually for 6 to 9 months at a time. I don't really need access to it after dropping it off.. The parking in my building at 160chf a month is much too much for something which would not be used daily or with some frequency.
A lot of people round here store their camper vans in a farmers barn.
Depends on when. Shipyards have plenty space during the summer.
I think the standard 150 CHF/mo tariff is kind of universal in CH, regardless of location.
Longer term storage is actually more demanding than frequent in/out, because you want covered space, ideally dry, and most importantly to have some basic security. If you're not going to visit the car for months, you need to make sure nothing will happen to it (damage from environment or accident, theft).
If you check actual car storage services they start at higher than a normal parking spot, and can easily go to multiple hundred CHF/mo. They tender batteries, it's climate controlled space, everybody is always around and takes care of the cars, etc. Granted it's an enthusiast-oriented service, so there it's a different pricing scheme, but still goes to show that this kind of thing is not cheaper than a "normal" parking spot, but actually more expensive.
Unfortunately 150 is the absolute minimum as it seems
