Looking for a medicine. Please help!

Hello Folks,

I am trying to find a swiss medicine called RUMALON, product of Robapharm (Basel).

Could anyone help me with info as to where I can purchase it?

Is it still on sale?

My grandfather has an issue with his leg joint. He used this medicine 40 years ago and it was the only working solution for him.

I'll be very grateful for any possible info/links.

Thank you in advance!

Adi

It seems that the Swiss company has been closed for about 10 years.

Here is the link to a Romanian company that still sells the same product (it seems).

http://www.rompharm.ro/en/rumalon .

This BG company seems to be linked to the RO company. Maybe they can help you.

https://www.sopharma.com/

According to this it should be availabe. (Aktive Marke) and the rights are with Pierre Fabre Pharma AG, since 2013, prolonged until 2025.

A search on the site of Pierre Fabre gives no return for it.

The thing to do would be to call them and ask if/where it is available:

Pierre Fabre (Suisse) SA

Pharmaunternehmen

address: Hegenheimermattweg 183, 4123 Allschwil

phone: 0041-61 487 89 00

Good luck.

Oh and there is this .... looks Russian to me ..... I don't speak Russian, if what you get there is no good, I shall deny I mentioned it

According to Zefix the Swiss company has closed around 2003 to 2007.

Compendium does not list a product with this name on the Swiss market.

Also it looks like many tradmark rights of Robapharm have ended in Switzerland.

Current owner of the RUMALON trademark in Switzerland is

Pierre Fabre Pharma AG

Hegenheimermattweg 183

4123 Allschwil

But it does not look like they are actively using it nor are they offering a similar medication. They are more into dermatology.

Considereing Verbiers provided information a similar product on the Swiss market could be OSTENIL from TRB CHEMEDICA SA.

Check with your doctor.

You are super helpful, many thanks to each of you. About to check the info now.

I was trying to point him to the RO company since it is just next door (north) or to the BG company since he is in BG.

With those two links (especially the RO one where they show the product), he should be able to locate what he needs. The CH option seems to be dead end (as has been mentioned). The product was pulled from DE a while back as they said it was not effective.

Shouldn't your first point of contact be your grandfather's physician?

I think Swiss pharma companies do not produce it any longer because it contains beef products and due to mad cow disease they discontinued. you might still be able to find equivalents or generics maybe in in other countries.
