Looking for a venue in Zurich to hire for a party - please help!

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a post wedding party on the Saturday 30th January for 50 guests and I'm having real trouble finding a suitable venue. Ideally, I'm after a function room as close to Zurich centre as poss so the guests can get back to their hotels without too much trouble or expense.

I've done a tour of the town and viewed some bars, they are great but very expensive as you obviously need to cover their normal Saturday night takings.

Any recommendations greatly received!

how about http://www.blumenhalle.ch/default.asp?V_SITE_ID=8

i don't think it is cheap though, but i know someone who had their wedding there..

Would you consider one of the restaurants just down the lake? You could probably organize a bus or taxis quickly to take people back. Like Riva, or Seerestaurant Tracht...or many of the other small places on the lake?

How much will you spent for this evening ?

You can meet a function room in a hotel for this day.

When you want to spent less, then you have to look for a room attached to a restaurant or a café, which is not used at this time, because otherwise you

have spent really much money.

Thanks for your prompt replies! My apologies as I didn't specify the exact nature of the party so I'll elaborate a bit more about our requirements:

We got married in Costa Rica back in December which obviously it wasn't convenient for most people to come. So now we wanted to have a party to celebrate our wedding with the people who couldn't come to the event - Most of our friends and family!

So the basically the idea is to find a bar or function room (Rather than a typical posh post wedding dinner venue) that would hold approx 50 people for an informal party. We would provide a buffet, alcohol (If there isn't already a bar), a live band if it's possible, otherwise we would organise a DJ.

We don't have a specific budget but the only suitable bar we found so far wanted to charge £2000 (Their normal Saturday night taking). We thought this was a tad high although it does include £2000 worth of alcohol! We just don't think that it would all get drunk by only 50 people! So it could be a waste of money.

Thanks and regards.

Try Restaurant Six, the owner is an Australian and the food is great.... I am sure that he could do something for you with regard to price...

Only trouble is that its not in the centre but it is close to the tram lines and has parking...

you could also just hire a hall and do your own drinks etc.

Every Gemeinde has halls for hire for ex. Seebach has a Gemeinschaft hall and they have about 4 different halls for rent for about 200fr with a pizza oven or bbc

is your £2000 actually 2000 francs?

If that includes booze and buffet for 50 people, that's great. That's 40 francs per head.

I did a party here in a pub many years ago and it came to 1800 francs with booze and food. I'd say there was about 35 people.

Hi Boxman,

I'm afraid it was £2000 without food. Which pub did you have your party in? I'd like to check it out.

Had a look around town yesterday and saw lots of bars, most are really nice places but it's strange, a lot of the bars seem to be roughly the same size - which is just slightly too small for our requirements of 50 people and space for a live band/dancing - I'll keep searching!

Thanks.

Hi

If you hire a Gemeinde it is possible that my company could cater for the food and the drinks for your guest.

Most Gemeindes will have a kitchen where we can finish 'buffet' styled food and I am sure than we can keep the costs below Fr. 2000 but it will depend on what drinks and the type of food you want.

We just catered for 60 adults and children in Wadeswil for less but we didn't supply any alcohol or any serving staff.

My company is Vintage and Vine and we use an American chef that is classically French trained.

PM me for more details...

Paul

We use a place called Aubrey (Kreis 5 near Technopark) for a monthly event and they are great. I have seen private parties with a band and it should be ok for 50 pax. They have a kitchen with great food and a full bar. Cool place.

If you are interested, send me a pm and I will introduce you to the owner.

Hi tesso, thanks for your suggestion - I'll check it out today!

Restaurant Six was me... Let Adrian know that I sent you there and you'll get the best deal... Paul @ Vintage and Vine...

Try the Blue Monkey or Aqua Bar - I have used both, both good. Hyatt also good but more expensive.
