Looking for cheapest Gym in Bern, any suggestion ?

I am moving to Bern on 18th. I just had a look online for some gym and I think they are very expensive compared to Australia. Do you know which one is cheapest Gym in Bern? I will be living in the city zone of Bern.

Hey, I've also recently moved to Bern. I had a quick look around, and they seem to be quite steep, but there are a couple of fitness centers a little outside of the city that might be cheaper. Wish I could tell you more.

However, swimming isn't too expensive, it's about CHF 7 a pop, so I've been doing that. Some places do 10-visit cards, and if you're a student there's a good discount too. Also, first thing I did is get some running shoes, there are some good places for a jog.

There is a gym called FitMade at Dammstrasse (not far from the mainstation):

I don't know the prices in Australia, but for Switzerland it's very cheap. If you go for a two-year subscription, it's 26.90 per month.

Discount Fit in have a number of places in and around Bern..I pay CHF 39 per month.

I go to http://www.profit2000.ch/

It's quite basic but big enough and has everything you really need in a gym.

People that go there are, as well as the owner are also nice. 860 CHF per year.

wouldnt it be great if there was a gym for foreigners like english italian etc so that people would speak same language?? tv and all?

No.

why not?

I go to gym and plug my earphones in. I really don't care what language is going on. I do my workout and smile occasionally to people who smile back.

Still if you are looking for specific language (especially English), try Migros. Most of the staff in most of their gyms speak English.

How is discountfit? there is one in Biel/Bienne, too, where I am looking for a place to go.

And it's true: gyms are so expensive...

Because it makes no sense - people usually go to the gym to work out, not to chat. Moreover, everyone in CH speaks some English - more than enough for the gym purposes.

I am also glad there is no TV in my gym!

Discountfit is OK, it works well and has a 'key fob' access mechanism and this there is nobody 'on duty' there as such.

Opening times are great. Only one downside that I don't like is that there are no showers there, changing rooms yes, showers no.

quoi?????

I ended up taking FITMADE its near bahnof and walking distance from my house. It costed me 420 for an YEAR.

Does your health insurance pay some of the cost, preventative medicine, most do.

I started aboot 2 months ago at a rather nice little gym - http://www.bodyfit.ch/ right next to Wankoff Bahnhof. Urs is the owner - top bloke - speaks good anglish too. He has a 10 day free trail on offer too. chf800 for the year. Insurance rebates etc...
