Looking for remedies to allergy (sneezing and runny nose)

Ever since I moved to Ticino from the Gulf of Mexico, I have been constantly sneezing. On many days my nostrils stay blocked.

Are there any natural remedies recommended by allergy sufferers?

Is Allegra (or equivalent) available at the pharmacy without a prescription?

If you've inadvertently ended up living near ' Tom ', it could be the whiff of his cooking in the air, that's irrittating your nostrils.

Failing that, there are different natural elements of the generic term 'hay fever' that are more prevalent at different times of the year - particularly as you're now living in a different climatic environment.

Ask at a pharmacy, they should know how to help.

You can buy antihistamines without prescription. About 10 for 8 chf at a time. If you need them regularly, might as well see a doctor, or get them elsewhere (like the US). My husband takes the otc version of zyrtec.

I start having allergy in Spring/Fall when there is pollen, grass and stuff floating around the air, then I took Zyrtec or Claritine. These work.

If you are having allergy to local something (e.g. started allergy after moving to a certain area), try to take Honey from that area. I heard having local honey helps you developing a natural immunity.

I read about this, and tried it all last year ... and it works for me BUT ... it is the entire comb you eat as well! A spoonfull of the honey with comb , and you chew the wax down until yoù can swallow that too.

This year I had none of the usual allergies. But then I also used a humidifier at nights (was told it settles any dust/pollens in the air).

I don't believe in Pharmaceuticals. They give you temporary relief, if they work.

If I start to get sniffles, which is rare, I delve into my supply of dried nettles and locally bought honey and make a tea.

If I don't have any dried nettles, I'll nip into the nearby woods and pick some wild nettles, given the right time of year.

Nettle contains a natural histamine and clears up any sniffles I have, if ever.

I also add peppermint to the brew.

Works for me!
