I need your advice, as maybe someone had such an experience before.
So yesterday I lost my phone with a swiss SIM card inside (or maybe it was stolen, I don't know). It was the Orange prepaid card, and the phone was moderately old Nokia E51. The phone was low on battery yesterday and when I noticed I didn't have it, I tried to call it from the other phone, but it was unreachable, so I guess the battery was already dead. What would be your advice on what to do now? I live in Zurich, the thing happened in Lausanne and anyway I can't walk around for a couple of days, as I twisted my ankle on the same trip Back at home where I come from, I wouldn't expect that anyone would give the phone back to the police or the lost+found office, but do you think it's worthwile contacting them here in CH? Also, I kind of care about the mobile number, since I put it as my contact number in a couple of places and all my friends know it - do you have any experience on getting a duplicate of a SIM card (prepaid Orange)? (Or maybe I should just get myself a gift and buy a new card with an iPhone? :P)
Thanks for any thoughts
Thanks! Do I understand correctly (google-translated it from French...) that I just have to show up at the office within a year from now and ask if they found it? (and if so, then pay an unknown amount of money for the reward and storage fee)
If you want to get the number back, you must contact your provider ASAP. I don't know about dealing directly with Orange but when I had a similar incident with Coop (which is using Orange network and Customer Support), I got a new SIM with my number pretty fast. When I called them, they asked for a proof of identity (usual security questions) and initially said there's a charge CHF40 for a SIM replacement which I agreed to. After taking the CC details their actually decided to waive the fee and put all the money on my account.
Thanks! So it's similar here. I only managed to negotiate 30CHF instead of 40CHF fee, so eventually I decided I could as well go for 3 months contract for the same price and get little better conditions.
Anyone in or around Zurich HB?
