I would like to know how to track the nokia cell phone using imei number. The model number was Nokia 5233.The cell was bought from India. I lost my phone on 25.09.10 from Basel HB. . Is there any way to recover it ?I have already reported the online lost and found in SBB.
Yes, the first thing you need to do is inform the police and then your phone company.
The phone company can block the SIM to stop anyone running up charges on your account, and they can then provide the IMEI data to the police if they request it later.
Some networks have reciprocal arrangements so that if an IMEI is reported stolen on one network, they block it on theirs too. That way even if they put a new SIM from a different network in it, it still won't work.
Anyway, here's hoping that it's found by someone and handed in. With any luck, someone's handed it to the police already!
Generally speaking, not many network operators bother to track/block stolen phones via IMEI (assuming you know the IMEI of your phone before you lost it?). And if you bought your phone in India, Swiss operators won't have any means to block it anyway since it's not a device they sold to their customer. Sorry for the bad news, but unless someone finds your phone and tracks you down, or turns it into the lost and found, I think your phone is gone
More importantly tho, contact your provider and have your SIM card blocked so no calls can be made!
