A work colleague has lost his passport and is seemingly having trouble getting through to the Paris Passport office but they are asking him to give his credit card details, basically to be able to speak to someone who might be able to help him.
Has anyone got advice on losing a UK passport in Switzerland?
yep - i know someone that did it and they are a pain to deal with - the credit card is to pay for the phone call! there is a branch in geneva though (they have to go through paris) but its a lot easier to go through them.. dont have any contact details though but just lok for british embassy number!
Lost my UK passport in the post... it turned up 14 days later.
1: Report it to the Swiss Police
2: Have you a photocopy, ie you need passport numbers etc.
3: Go to the British High Commission in Geneva.
British Consulate General - Geneva
Avenue Louis-Casaìˆ 58
Case postale 6
1216 Cointrin Geneva
Tel: (41) (22) 918 2400
Fax: (41) (22) 918 2322
Office hours: Consular Services: 0830 - 1230 / 1400 - 1500 (Local Time)
They dont issue passport anymore but will give you sound advise.
4: Is the op resident in Switzerland? or just visiting
5: Does the op need to leave Switzerland,Geneva office can help.
Try pressing 0 or * on the phone when the automatic answerphone kicks in, so that the call is diverted to a person and not operator. With the Swiss number above, if no one answers try Tel: (41) (22) 918 240* where * is 1,2,3,4 etc
thanks for posting what i was sort of trying too but i didnt have facts to back it up!
I hope your friend finds it, I lost my passport last week and while I got it back after 4 days, it was a HORRIBLE feeling to have to go through the pain and agony of getting a new one. Your friend needs to report it stolen asap (you can contact the main UK number ot do this) and get it cancelled, then he will need to do as others have suggested above and contact the Geneva BE.
