A heads up. I just lost my money, fortunately very little, using Lyca for iPad data/web access. It took multiple emails and 3 calls to get them to complete the setup. No sales rep seemed to understand that from an iPad with data usage only, that I could not activate anything myself by calling their code, as you do from a phone. Despite calling specifically to activate a certain package, as well as emailing the same request, I just found out that they did actually activate the package and I just went through what I thought was three month's topup at the standard rate in 3 weeks.
I could not check the account online and rang about that - they confirmed in writing to my correct email that they entered my email incorrectly, and could I provide proof of ID again!
I just rang and got stonewalled. Basically they told me bad luck that I had not activated the bundle. Whilst agreeing with me that (1) they got the email address wrong so I could not access my account online and (2) that I needed to phone them to activate the bundle (which I had).
I won't ever go near them again.
When I used a Lyca sim for my iPad, I used to set up a monthly reminder to take out the sim, pop it into my phone and re-enter the monthly code. In the end I just switched to a regular CHF 10/mo package with Orange and that has worked just as well. Not worth the extra hassle for a few more GB that I will never use anyway.
Nice idea. My cell phone is Lebara, I am not sure that would even work (swapping out sim cards). I'll look into Orange....
