I want to share some negative experience with the M-Budget mobile monthly subscription. My wife got one a month ago. It was also a number transfer from prepaid Yallo card. The subscription comes with 2GB of data monthly and some minutes. Minutes are fine, however the data is not accessible.
First we thought we are not activating it properly and then called the guys, it turned out there is no need to activate anything, it was just not working.
For three weeks they have been trying to fix it with NO SUCCESS. The only answer we got is to simply pull out and put back in the SIM card (yeah, remember "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"...)
They even escalated to their second level support. Again - nothing.
Yesterday, they even sent a new SIM card - which is also not working, as I realized just now.
Honestly I have no other idea but to switch to another provider. Furthermore, every time, we had to call them, there is a waiting period of at least 10 minutes.
I have tried the other way around. Putting SIM card from another mobile provider in the very same phone and 4G works like a charm.
The mobile device belongs to wife's and it is an IPhone 6 she owns for about a year and a half.
EDIT: She just called them again and informed them the new SIM card is not working. They asked her to switch off the phone for 5 minutes and then switch it back on. Guess what? That did not help either.
That's odd - I've got an iPhone 6 and run MBudget and have 4G no probs. I had to go to settings to actively switch it on but it works. The only time I notice it go onto 3G is when the signal is weak because I'm out in the sticks somewhere or going through a tunnel.
Problem is still ongoing for over a month now! And they cannot seem to be able to fix it. Furthermore, they have one of the worst customer service, I have ever experienced.
They keep saying the same thing over and over again, which is NOT fixing the problem.
What option are there? Can the contract be suspended immediately, in case one of the sides is not fulfilling their obligations?
I doubt very much that this could be an option. Typically, the Contract and Terms and Conditions are cleverly worded to say that the service will be provided only kinda more-or-less sorta, etc., with very little lee-way for the customer to claim against any defaults by the provider.
You always have the option of giving notice, adhering to the regular notice period as set out in the Contract.
Have you tried taking the phone with the SIM (and all the papers, Contract, PIN, PUK, etc.) to a MobileZone shop, or a Swisscom shop?
Both MobileZone and Swisscom used to sell M-Budget products, both no longer do. Strictly speaking, then, this is not their problem. Even so, with a little bit of good luck, and if you approach them speaking calmly, the way it is much appreciated (even though, inside, you may well be feeling very frustrated) you may find that one of those bright, savvy 23-year-olds will be willing to try out the 10 most likely problem-solving strategies that come to mind.
Similarly, if you have any query about your own phone or subscription, and go to your own supplier, after you've had your questions answered, you may find that that nice assistant would be willing to give you some tips about your wife's phone.
If her phone is an iPhone, you could even try to ask for advice at an Apple shop.
Old-old M-Budget contract (PrePay.. still charged with lots of CHF) - I eventually activated the data option (at it's beginning in 2006 or so, M-Budget was Non-Data only) but it doesn't work on the phone. Since that's still an old "regular" SIM card, I can't really try it with any other phone, but I'm 99% sure it's no the phone that's the issue. Data just won't work. Not really THAT much of an issue since the Spare phone is for emergencies (during which data would be nice to have, but not really a necessity)
M-Budget couldn't help me either when I called them upon it.
Problem is, we just had that ordered. This is the first month of usage. Waiting for 11 more months before unsubscribing, without being able to use 1/3rd of their service is unacceptable.
Let's face it. This is not a minor deviation, this is a key feature - calling, sms, data. That's it. And for me, data is the most important one nowadays.
Do they have an office of some kind, where I can actually meet people and ask them directly?
On their website, I cannot even find a complaint corner.
a month of trouble and no solution, that is horrible.
However, I have had a very good experience with M-Budget subscription, esp with network powered by Swisscom.
btw, you don's have to wait 11 more months, the Kündigungfrist is only 60 days.
you should anyways not have to pay a single penny. Call their customer support and also write them an email. They are quick to respond, at least with my experience, but it may vary.
Have the clerk write down what he found and confirm that it's not working without it being your fault. Since M-Budget isn't doing its part that should be grounds to cancel immediately - you seem to not want to but still, that's your leverage.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I had some time this morning and did a lot of tests. Here is the outcome:
- the data on her M-Budget SIM card WORKS properly on my phone
- the data of another provider (not Swiss) SIM card WORKS properly on her phone
- the data on my Swisscom SIM card DOES NOT WORK on her phone
It seems her device has issues sending and receiving data to the Swisscom network. I have no other explanation. I did drop an email to Swisscom support.
We have tried:
- switching the phone off
- switching mobile data on and off
- pulling out the SIM card and putting it back on
- getting a new SIM card from the provider
- resetting network settings
- updating to the new iOS
- keeping the phone off for 8 hours
Nothing seem to fix the issue. M-Budget support technicians are also unable to sort this out.
As I expected earlier, the problem is not the sim-card but the phone itself, so I am very curious about this. And you could try it at another spot like end of the street, different spots, different strength of network.
