Last year we bought an electric toothbrush from the electronics part of the Migros in Horgen. When I unpacked it it didn't work and wouldn't charge, so we took it back, and after a bit of faffing about they agreed to replace it.
Fast forward to this week, and we bought a microwave from the same store. Got it home and unpacked it, and again it's basically dead on arrival - simply doesn't work.
I'll be taking it back again tomorrow, but in the meantime I have to wonder if we're just unlucky in this, or if the m-electronics track record is not too great.
Has anyone else had this kind of experience with them?
Actually, just had another thought....on the inside right of the microwave there is a rectangular silver reflective cover, almost like a piece of cardboard, which according to the instructions covers the magnetron.
Now, also according to the instructions, as far as I can tell this must not be disturbed or removed. Given my German is prone to gaffs (to put it mildly), could some kind soul please reassure me I have read that right - and it's not the case that actually it MUST be removed?!
If you quote the German instructions here we can translate them for you - or you can use Google Language Tools which give a not bad translation usually.
So the story ends with me taking the offending item back this evening and getting a replacement with no questions asked. We've just tested it and it's working fine.
