Mac and iTunes U.S. login help

I had a itunes account in the U.S. on my Hewlett Packard. Now trying to log into itunes from my new MacBook Pro, they only let me log in with my Apple ID, so its basically a new account and not my old account. How do I log back into my old U.S. account using my yahoo email address?

Obviously, now I want to download movies in Switzerland and really need that U.S. account to base me in the U.S. I heard of hotspot shield and think I downloaded that too to help, but right now I'm not even getting to square one of logging in.

Can anyone help out a new mac user?

when you say log in, do you mean you expect to find your whole library ? or you just want to log into your account, like say, using a youtube on any old computer? for that, you really ought to be able to log in using your email adress and password. How bizzare. Ill ask my dad in the morning and send you a message with any info. He just switched to mac too.

Hi Expatcat, it is not quite clear what you expect.

The ITunes store is basically an account based on your credit card. So, if you have your old US credit card attached to it, it is an US account (however it may remain limited by IP address location, they are quite annoying with this stuff); but if you changed the account to your new swiss card, well... you're stuffed.

As for the ITunes library, that is resident on your hardware; so if you have a new laptop, and you didn't transfer your music from one to the other, you have a new account. You CAN transfer music from one ITunes to the other (I believe legal music has 3 transfers, your own CDs and downloads can be moved even more), but you need to find the actual file residence and load them on a key - or you can network the computers, and set up the ITunes to connect.

Login in with your existing account or create a new one. For the address, use a US one and as payment, use a US credit card. From then on, logging in with this account will bring you to the US version of the iTunes Store where you can buy/rent movies, etc. as if you were in the US.

Here are instructions on how to get a US iTunes account outside the USA.

I've been using my US iTunes account for years, and it is great. I can often see movies that are just in the theater for $4

Your Apple ID is just an email address. Did you try entering your yahoo address into the ID field?
