Really annoying that the dock disappears constantly for no reason at all. And nothing I have tried helps. Typical Apple shit.
It’s a known bug.
Several workarounds and fixes are recommended until Apple releases an official update to fix the bug:
- Toggle the “Automatically hide and show the Dock” option off and on in System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Command + Option + D to quickly toggle the Dock’s visibility.
- Open Terminal and execute the command
killall Dockto restart the Dock process promptly.- Lock and unlock your Mac using Control + Command + Q to refresh the Dock display.
- Temporarily disable and then re-enable the screensaver via System Settings > Lock Screen, especially if the issue occurs after waking from screensaver.
- Reset Dock preferences by deleting related plist files (advanced step).
- Update macOS Tahoe regularly for patches fixing this issue.
This issue is acknowledged as a software bug often related to screensaver activation/deactivation. Users widely use the keyboard shortcuts and Terminal commands as quick fixes while waiting for Apple to issue a permanent update.
Command Option D seems the most straightforward.
Yes I will use Command Option D until they find permant solution. Typical AppleMac problem.
You don’t have to use a Mac. And by the way, You’re welcome, I’m glad I could help.
Also, to add, you don’t have to install the new OS as soon as it launches…
One can happily be 1 or 2 OS behind in Mac, still be fully-protected for security, and not miss much, if anything. The user experience is practically identical.
My self made Windows PC packed it in and getting a mac mini was a quick solution. Mac is quirky!
Good thing my 2018 Mini doesn’t get Tahoe.
Once I get a new Mini, it’ll be good to go.
This problem is typical Apple.
Please don’t hold back.
No. Please go back to Wintel.
Apple fixed it with the latest update to Tahoe.
Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can …
