Dear
I have a C-permit and live for working reasons close to Zurich. I also have a little appartment in beautiful Alsace in France where I spend most of my free time together with my friend, who is Non-EU.
We want to marry now in France, cause the paperwork for getting married there is much easier than here.
I assume I need to registrate our marriage afterwards in Switzerland right? Where to I need to go for that? To migration office, cause we both do not have swiss citizenship?
We are currently not sure, where to live in the future. May be Switzerland for the moment, cause my future husband wanna work here for a few years and then we move finally back to France.
Do he needs to apply after marriage for a VISA to live here with me in Switzerland?
Thanks for your feedback!
Btw...great forum...8 years and Switzerland and just found it
Good morning
Thank you very much!
I assume that he can visit me in Switzerland during the VISA application process, just not "live" here right?
We could apply then from France (cause he has a VISA for France) and go there to the swiss ambassady and/or I need to go to migration office here in Zurich as well?
Complicated constellation...four countries involved
You need to apply for the family reunification permit by filling in the form at your gemeinde admin office. He may need to apply for a Type D visa at the Swiss embassy/consulate in France.
Visiting? Sort of maybe I guess. May depend on whether he needs the Type D visa or not. Technically he should wait for that in the country he’s currently resident in and not travel to Switzerland, but being next door … I don’t know. Maybe talk to the embassy/consulate/cantonal migration office to see what they say.
Thank you very much...as soon as we are married, I run into our Gemeindeamt and will ask.
Anyway, most of the time we are in France...so not need to "risk" anything and having unpleasant questions of the Grenzkontrolle.
Have a great day and thanks again!
Dear
I need to go to Migrationsamt Zurich asking for the type of VISA ....anyone knows what is the "best time" during the day to go there to avoid long waiting time? I am working all day, but wanted to jump during lunch time. Sure I could call/email, but I prefer personal contact, cause situation is a bit tricky. Hope, they are in good mood :-)
Have a great start of the week!
Kind regards
