Master degree - sponsorship question for non eu student

A friend of mine is looking for this info..

Her relative has applied to a master degree program in 1 of the university of applied sciences in Switzerland. He is Non EU. Question is regarding the funds 21000chf the student must show before applying for visa, is he still needed to show if my friend could be a sponsor for him? In that case should she show an amount of 21000chf in her account or is enough to show she receives monthly salary. My friend has B permit and is employed.

As there aren't any replies, have a bump. I seem to recall there's more to sponsorship than just showing a bank account balance. But I could be wrong.
