Mattresses: U.S. vs. Swiss

You must be kidding ikea beds are comfortable, you obviously never slept on a nice american bed.

Does anyone have any experience with these mattresses?

Cheers,

I plan to buy a few things in the USA on my trip there. I would really like to get some linens for my Queen size Bed. (160x200). The problem is that the US Queen is 153 by 203. Will I have problems if I am buying fitting sheets there and trying to stretch it onto my 160 bed? The duvet cover is ok because I will probably buy my duvet there as well.

Hi! I just arrived here ten days ago from the US for 5 years. We are most definitely shipping our beds. We bought two queen sized beds here 160x200. One was a hardly used top of the line IKEA bed. So uncomfortable. Pillows too. I bought a down pillow from Manor over 100 francs, also not very comfortable. I can not wait for my Duxianna bed to arrive.

I brought sheets and mattress covers from US, queen size. They work. They fit fine. They aren't brand new and are high thread count so they aren't really stiff they have some give to them. I think your sheets will fit.

Good Luck!

A good mattress is very important as was said, and a mattress should be changed roughly every ten years.

If you look at it like this, a very good mattress at 2000chf is only really costing you about 17chf a month. Granted, mattresses for a whole family of 4 or 5 will come in at over 50chf a month, but still pittances if you think at all the back problems you will end up having later on in life.

However, the Ikea Sultan's (at least one of them) is pretty good, I got one for the guest room and have slept on it occasionally. Was quite surprised.

If you have them, ship them. I brought mine and was so happy I did. I have now moved onto a very nice Swiss Mattress... (insanely pricey but so so comfy). I only mention it because there are really nice beds here and I love to sleep. One thing to think about is the box spring. Depending on where you move to getting a king box spring might be tough to get up the stairs. I was in an old house and I had a queen which was okay, but anything bigger might have caused problems.
