McDonalds in Switzerland

I noticed that Mcdonalds in Switzerland " i don't know if this is different in bigger cities such a Zurich " But McDonalds in Wallis where i was in the sommer did not have Large sizes for meals or drink.

I would like to know " why " there is no large sizes

And " Why " McDonalds coast SOOO MUCH to eat there.

McDonalds in switzerland coast as much as a normal restaurant what gives ??

McDonalds uses (or says they use) local products.....potatos, beef, garnishes for the burgers etc....so this would drive up the price.

And is it really a bad thing that they don't offer the bladder buster?

Importing meat is expensive for Ronald, therefore the prices are high and also the burgers are smaller than normal.

cheers

Would you rather not have a gun when you really really need to use one to protect yourself, or have one and just knowing you have it and not use it unless need too.

Have the option to have large sizes and let the people decided if they wonna buy it or not ??

I dunno.... I completely understand your point and especially since you said why the prices are so high would just make the large sizes really too expensive so i can understand sorta why there isnt a large size.

Maybe there are no Americans in Wallis.

ok ok so, to be honest i really do not know if Canada uses our own products but if we did, do you think that the prices would be higher or stay the same. I'm not sure if we get our McDonalds products meat and everything from the states.

If Canada does use it's own products I would expect the prices to be cheaper than here for sure, maybe a bit more expensive than the US as they can grow things all year round (tomatoes) where Canada would need to use hot houses. In any case I've always found McD's to taste better here, especially the fries.

Hey im Canadian, just because i say one or two things about McDonalds you think im American ?

I agree with you 100% the McDonalds in switzerland taste's alot better and is made and put together way better then here. So i guess it all evens out.

in Canada we pay cheap for fast food but dont expect your burger to be made the right way. in Switzerland you pay more but tastes way better and is made it least correctly, I dont know how many times i opened my burger box and see my burger half way on my buns and just slopped together.

I think you have your knickers in a twist from reading my post incorrectly, try reading it again.

according to the big mac index you can earn your big mac in zurich within 15 minutes, in germany its way more expensive

I've found that the potatoes sold here, although small compared to Idaho Russets, have a much richer, more "buttery" natural flavor. I especially notice this in french fries and mashed potatoes here. Speaking of large potatoes, where can one get a proper baking potato here? Something about 1/2 kilo in size. Steak and potatoes just doesn't fill the homesick hole when the potatoes are very small... (Sorry for the OT)

Ya true you are correct that makes sense.

That's a 306a in one simple move. Good going.

I always assumed the cost of McDonalds is higher here because of the higher minimum wages and materials costs.

I can't eat anything there due to being celiac, but my husband (on the couple of times he has been) has said the service is much slower but the taste better.

i'm sure wolli could confirm, but back in 1985, mcdonalds in switzerland trialled the supersized menus, but it was a total flop. the meal cost 7.95 Fr, which back then was equivalent to 2 weeks average wage.

even today, few could afford a super-sized meal, and therefore not enough demand to warrant offering it.

My mom says the same thing (Canadian here!). I've seen baked potatos in the coop (look at the photos on the bag) but they're not as big as what we get back home. So just make 2 instead of one....more skin, which is the best part when they're baked in rock salt!

Yeah, but I want that traditional American loaded baked potato... Butter, sour cream, bacon, cheese, chives. It's almost time for a holiday visit, though... As soon as semester is over...

Something does not sound right here, local products drive up the price? Surely the other way round no?

Well I thought the whole reason McDonalds and Burger King exist here, and KFC does not, was the fact that they HAD to source beef locally / use Swiss beef. Unsure on other ingredients or whether it matters. I thought this was all due to farming methods / care for animals etc. Hence why KFC and they're super healthy chickens can't be served here, and I guess the local stuff wont produce same results.

Lastly, I thought the whole no large thing, and price of the stuff was purely the Swiss mentality of healthy living. No large so people with no will power (Americans mostly) dont get morbidly obese, be refused entry on to planes etc, then die, then blame the airline for their repulsive selves . (sorry, getting onto another story here). But yeah, I just thought no large and expensive because its crap and a luxury crap that you have to pay premium for.

WE believe that MacDo supersized menus are the thing that makes americans obese....

and we don't want to look like them...
