Don't think the locals appreciate the art of dunking (the perfect dunking biscuit - slightly soft on the outside, but still crisp in the middle; with a subtle ginger flavour in the ol' Earl Grey).
Despite the boring Swiss biscuits, they just didn't get the ginger taste in a plain biscuit, and were probably discontinued due to poor sales - I even once bought some reduced because they were nearing the sell-by-date .... normally unheard of.
As a good few packs of biscuits end up being given away to hosts on a visit, the familiar Swiss brands are preferred - as no one wants to offend.
I've had to hide my Hob-Nobs, as the fire-breathing dragon always insisted on giving a pack when we were invited out for tiffin - as a taste of good-old blighty.
Migros has a biscuit which is a bit like "Ginger thins" which are delish. Will try to find a pic of the packet but they are in the biccy department of even our local miniscule-Migros.
Last week when I looked in one of the Coop megastores, they only had the plain McVities and not the ginger snaps... in what village was the shop?
I know that not even all megastores have the same things, e.g. Marmite can be found at St. Annahof in Zürich but not in all the other megastores in the canton
Anyway, will try the Migros ones and will simply call the Coop and ask where to find them since some shops seem to stock it and others do not
I used to love these, but have not been able to eat then since I bit one in half to find a pube sticking out. Mind you, that was Morrisons own not mcvities.
I know this is not Zurich area but Jim's British Mini Market in Gland and St Genis ( just over the border from GE ) sell these and I have yet to find any pubes I couldnt immediately assign a source to.
