Me...

Greetings, people who have come before...

I am certain many of you have seen & read posts by my wife, Swisspea, but I'll give my perspective on things just this once...

We (being myself, my wife and our three children ranging from 8 years to 8 months) arrived in Switzerland from Sydney, Australia, at the end of last month. Just in time for Swiss National Day, and my birthday. My employer believes I was born in the wrong country, and really belong in Switzerland...

I work for a Montessori School in Zürich, located not far from the Lake, and the Principal helped us a lot - getting a quote on health insurance, finding and signing a contract for an apartment (from a short list we'd put together from an online real estate site), getting the work visa (of course!) and, on arrival in Zürich with three children in tow, picking us up, taking us to the hotel they were paying for, dropping in to our apartment to get the keys, driving us around to see a few sites, taking us out to lunch at a nice restaurant right on the Lake and, over the next few days, assisting in everything we needed - registering at the Kreisburo, setting up a bank account, sorting out public transport passes, and informing us on how to buy Züri-sacke...

I'm keen to find out more on home-brewing laws in Zürich, as I and a few mates used to brew our own regularly in Sydney... but any nice beer at the pub will be fine, so I'm sure I'll see some of you next Wednesday at the Talacker...

Also, anyone into sailing and looking for crew, give me a nod... although it's been a while, so I may be a bit rusty at first...

Araqyl.

Ah...you've just reminded me of all those DIY home-brewing stuff I used to see on the supermarket shelves in Sydney.

Am not of much help here coz I don't brew my own beer. However, a point on that whole "born in the wrong country" - my hubby says the same with me, but with a slight twist. He thinks I should have been an European. XD

I actually think I was also born in the wrong millenium... although I'm quick to pick up and enjoy all the fancy high-tech toys, I'm not really interested in them... I mean, my mobile phone is just a phone... doesn't even have bluetooth!

Will have to do my own research re: home brewing then... or just chuck out a wider question, in the appropriate section of this forum...

Welcome Araqyl....sounds like you're lucky with your employeur!

Can't help on the home-brew front but there are some pretty good micro-breweries in the Zuerich area and pleny of people on the EF to point you to them!

Cheers
