Meet & drive: Pass roads of Central Switzerland

I can do a week day. But not at 7am in Altdorf. I mean I could, but why? I get even grumpier than usual when I lack sleep.

So, who is in? I count like two and a half …

Pinched nerve in my back and OH’s shoulder injury has ruled us out, I’m afraid… :smiling_face_with_tear:

Maybe you can come in an ambulance?

Jokes aside, I hear you. My office-trained body moved some furniture around yesterday and now I have lumbago.

Ha, I’m also not a morning person.I’m just willing to wake up early to avoid more cars.

So, 10h00 on a weekday?

Too bad you can’t stop and stay at the amazing Grimsel Hospiz !!!

Works for me, in principle. Would be great to have a few more joining. 4-5 cars would be great, but I guess unrealistic. @eyebeebe seems to have left for good. Who were the others who considered this back on EF?

We could of course invite @kingkong and @Tom1234 for some embedded road safety simulations.

Thanks but not really my cup of tea.

I like driving passes but would prefer something a bit more demanding.

How about the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse?

Nice drive, but a lot of driving to get there. And it is a bit short.

If not Central Switzerland, I would consider Flüela, Albula, Julier, Maloja, Splügen.

Keep me posted, might be up for a cruise!

Sigh.

And if you bring this vehicle to the mountains, I will be driving circles around you.

On the cycling thread, he said he had a Toyota Corolla.

Yea, I did not really think that monster was his ride. Looks like a “owning the libs” post from Twitter.

I will not bring the BMW by the way, but a much more nimble and fun car that weighs under 1100 kg.

If there is a ride happening in central CH at the weekend and after the 20th July would be up for it.

I think it is more realistic to assume we will go after the peak holiday (Axa leaving soon for holiday) in the hope of finding some more interested folks. I have a hunch that kingkong will not show up.

The Gotthard overload until A13 is repaired is probably further reason to do this not before mid August.

There is another place that is also quite good, and actually my preferred route for decompressing. Schwarzwald is quite nice, and I always do Waldshut - Rothaus from the east, and then go explore around Todtmoos, and always go from St Blasien down to Dorgen. I wake up at 5.30 or so, and by the time I’m done it’s 8-9 and the cyclists are coming out so I can just drive home

It’s easy for people around Zurich, not as picturesque as the passes, but more diverse roads and really really fun.

I used to do a couple runs a month BC (before children), now I’m lucky if I do a couple a year. I think I’d like to try if I can catch a Saturday or Sunday free during July
