Men are embarassed by their pot bellies

Aaaaah yes, that age old question - "Does my bum look too small in this?"

I suddenly realised six weeks ago that my beer belly was larger than it had ever been. I've now embarked on a campaign to eliminate it. 3 kilos down now and on track . . .

To be honest, I'm gunning for this look:

But I would need to stop working, and eating. And I lovez my food.

What I have observed in my circle is that those who have flat tummies are the ones who enjoy varied food, sweets, fat et al within reason of course,...and in general enjoy food more than those with visible bellies...

Now, in all reality, there's no connection between dieting, not enjoying life and not having a pot belly.

There are people out there who are comfortably into the single digits of body fat % who don't diet and really enjoy life. Are they less manlier? perhaps.

Sounds like some kind of fetish

I admit it and since I am mostly responsible for it (husband has gained 10 kilos since we started living together)...I embrace it.

Ugh, he looks scary, really. He weight lifts too much, eats those funky protein bars and weighs himself each times he poops. Not attractive. Call me weird.

Share how, please. I am currently cutting on carbs, but I miss them. And wine, eventhough I'd have a glass a day only, still..

Nope. It means they either watch what they eat, or spend the entire weekend running around the track field ignoring their girls..hahaha. I am kidding. But absolutely no bellly makes one feel like highschool, more fat, more to love. To a certain limit, sure. But most girls I know would go for the bearish rather than vegan marathon man..

so many apologists here. i hate having a belly and put in some effort to minimize it.

There is some truth to it, in fact I was been pondering over this question for some time now and had posed this on FB a few days back: I think people as described by Angela (the pleasantly plump as they say) tend to be happier people than those of us who spend too much time chasing fitness without there being a need...to me this is a puzzle/paradox.

Actually I was told this by my aunts when I was in my teens (I used to be very thin then)... I am beginning to see sense in that.

It seems to be true that females perfer the larger pot belly type.

Kinda sad though, very unhealthy support. It's interesting that men seem to prefer women with healthy figures where women prefer the opposite in men.

weird...

No funky proteins involved with me.

No, musicchick didn't say being so fat as having your belly hanging down, just a bit of manly paunch as normal to that age.

It is the same as wanting women to be curvy and not sinewy, but not to the extent of being so fat that penetration becomes structurally impractical

A question of balance, I suppose.

Out of curiousity is it just diet-based, or are you training too?

Well yeah, those examples are a bit on the extreme sides. But I'm pretty certain that someone who can classify their stomach as having a pot belly, is not on the healthier side of BMI. Where as women who are known to be beautiful and curvy are still in very healthy range.

But I think those perhaps goes back to more primal instincts of large protector man/women-to be protected.

I lost 10 kilos over 2 months lately and I have to say I don't care that girls prefer men with a larger pot belly type, I just feel good and great.

No exercises, just leaving the table before I feel being "full"

don't think so. normal build for someone who goes to the gym, say 3 times a week. a real weight-lifting nut would look more like this:

Well not to worry... plenty of nice women tend to like their men without pot belies, so you'll be fine.

I can growl
