Men's Winter Boots in Zurich?

Help!

I am a native Floridian (sunny, warm) in Zurich (sunny, but not so warm). I have plenty of sneakers, dress shoes, sandals, and exercise shoes, but I have NOTHING that will stand up to a proper winter! I don't know boots from well.. boots, so I need some advice on what/where to acquire a good pair of winter boots (or shoes, actually) for men in Zurich.

Everything's expensive in Zurich, but on a Zurich-adjusted scale, I want a pair that is inexpensive, waterproof, insulated/lined, and either rugged (my wife and I want to be able to go up and down some of the hills in the area) or stylish (something I could maybe wear if we were going somewhere nice), but I don't want a pair that look like I strapped a couple of leather-clad bricks to my feet.

What are the best shops to look, what are the good brands, and what price range should I expect?

Sad... Nobody?

I'm a snow hater, therefore not very informed on which clothing is awesome to go out into the snow, but here is some free tip:

There is a Sherpa store in Zürich Hardbrücke with all your mountaneering needs.

Maybe you can start there?

There is also a Snowboard/Ski/Snow orgy store on the train station in... ähem... Uster? Or is it Wetzikon... No it's Uster...

I picked up some very reasonable Salomon winter boots, goretex, fully waterproof, great tread for walking on compacted snow from Tschumperlin around 60CHF last winter.

Hubby has these. He loves them and does everything you mentioned, although I guess the fashion and price bit are in the eye of the beholder.

The wife will decide the fashion... I'm more of a function guy- my shoe fashion kinda stopped with sneakers awhile back. Thanks everyone for the tips!

You could try this small outlet right behind the HB:

They have good offers sometimes...

Thanks all! We both found nice boots at the Oschner Shoe right off of the Central stop in Zurich. When we mentioned that we saw a similar pair for less at the Dosenbach several stores down the Limmatquai, the salesclerk not only matched the price, she beat it by 10 CHF! Both clerks were very helpful, polite, and spoke German, fluent English, and at least one spoke some Italian. I'd definitely shop there again.
