I dont know if anyone has asked this Question before - MFK is overdue on my car for nearly two months now. No invitation recieved from Strassenverkasamt. Can I book an appointment or do I still wait for the letter from the authority?
The MFK does not expire, you will be invited between 2 - 5 years in my experience in CH. Some Cantons it can be nearer 10 years, nothing to worry about.
But what happens if you buy a vehicle where the last MFK was over 4 years ago lets say? I believe when you go to register it you will have to make a new MFK. So, can you still drive the vehicle as the new owner whilst you wait for the new MFK date?
An owner can get a voluntary test before sale if they want.
If the vehicle is currently on the road you can get new plates but will probably get invited for a test quickly. THATS what I expected when I bought a motorbike last July, still waiting for the invitation.
I have exactly the same situation. I've been waiting for the invitation but it never came. Now leaving the country and selling my bike.. lot of interest but most of the interested persons wants the MFK done prior buying. I guess I will just arrange a time and get this done and my change of getting the bike sold in time increases.
When I had my old car, I had the same issue once and I called them to ask them what the delay was. It was a opportunity for me to get it done because my Service was due too so I wanted my car to pass with flying colors :-)
They sent me an invite in the next 2 weeks so that I could get it done.
Hi, my mfk was last done in April 2012 on a 2007 car, and I'm looking to sell it, I'm based in zig, how do I go about forcing a test so I can sell the car?
Like many official things in Switzerland it all seems a bit random
In April this year I changed the ownership of one car from wife's name to mine and I expected to get a quick MFK invite. In fact I got the invite last week; it is 3 years and 9 months since the last test so I cannot really complain
