Miele kitchen appliances - aaargh

Dishwasher just broke down on us, gave us the dreaded F13 error, which basically means that it has water input issues in one or more places - from electronics to the input sensor(s) to the in/out water pumps, etc.

It really never worked properly in first place....funny buzzing noises when draining water out, then the regular program always running 2:03 despite sensors which should have calibrated the length and intensity of the program depending on load and dirtiness, and now this.

The cooking top's leds, the ones that display power intensity, every now and then just go randomly off...so your "8" all of a sudden can look like a "5" or just like a jumble of meaningless segments.

Both units are just 9 years old (we chose them and purch'd them too, so it is only our fault) which just seems to me yet another fine example of preordained obsolescence.

Just pisses me off, royally.

Happy sunday, everyone

p.s. at this stage I really don't know what maker to trust anymore... field-proven ideas?

It may not be the dishwasher.

It could be something as simple as a blockage at the inline filter in the inlet hose (where it screws into the connection under the sink).

Cleaning this is routine maintenance.

Have a look there first.

Do you get the error again after turning the machine on and off?

Hi Tom,

I unhooked the inlet hose, cleaned out the little filter thingy.

Now I've just taken apart and cleaned the whole output filter thing - found a youtube vid that gave me a aha! moment - and now, fingers crossed, it looks like the whole thing is working again.

I must say that I didn't find anything blocking it really. We always rinse our dishes before washing them in the dishwasher. We have an anti-scale thingamajig on our water supply, and our plumber says it is working like a charm, so I don't think there's any scale accumulation in the outflow pump or anything.

I think it's probably just those fricken electronics, you know? Plus all those solar eruptions, chinese and east-european hackers, computer viruses and whatnot

P.

No problems so far this end, albeit the appliances are only seven years old and they sound like similar Miele spec. Fingers crossed.

Hope it doesn't prove too costly to fix.

I'll be damned.

It's running smoothly like a swiss train now. I really don't get it...there were no loose parts, nothing blocking the output filter. I just took the whole assembly apart and put it back again.

OTOH Mrs. GroOve won't be happy that the lights above the cooking top aren't working anymore. Looks like the trafo could have burned... hopefully I can find one with the same specs, and dimensions (!).

Definitely one of those WTF days!

We get an F13 fault on our Miele dishwasher occasionally but it's got nothing to do with the machine - it's the mains water pressure.

Due to a stupid pipe layout by the plumbers, the kitchen sink (and hence dishwasher) is the last outlet on the cold water so pressure is lowest there and if other taps are running, especially the kitchen sink one, the dishwasher starts beeping.
