I have not seen the ad. can you tell some more details and I am happy to add my two cents... i only use nikon and have been around them for a long time.
in general the d90 is a good camera, but it is starting to be outdated. the next best would be the d7000 imho for a few more coins
While the D90 might be getting a little old you have to consider what Migros are offering it for - 499 including 18-105 lens. The D7000 on the other hand is still around the 1000 mark for the body only (no lens) - so it's a bit more than a few more coins IMO.
I have both the D90 and the D7000, and while the D7000 is definitely the superior camera, in terms of the end result there's not a lot in it.
At 499 with 18-105 this offer for the D90 really is a no brainer - if there are any left.
As a proud owner of a D90 for around 2yrs, I can confirm that it is indeed an excellent camera. The 18-105mm lens is excellent for all-round photography, and despite having bought a 70-300mm and a 50mm fixed lens since, the 18-105 is the one I usually take with me as it's easily the most flexible. The vibration reduction on the lens works pretty well too.
If you're taking the step up from a normal point and shoot digital camera then you'll be impressed.
The D90 is a great camera and the D7000 is double the price without the kit lens so go for it. Examples can easily be found on Flickr using the camera finder function http://www.flickr.com/cameras/nikon/d90/ and don't forget to register the camera as Nikon CH offers 3 years warranty for registered products.
i was basing my comments on the price.. for 499 it is a steal... and btw, being a photographer I am often asked what camera to get, and for a couple of years the D90 was my go to option for them... for this price, I would even consider picking up one as a backup for something
If there is some room in the budget then look at a used D700 as they dropped in price since the D800 hit the market, once you go full frame there is no looking back
I don't want to get down on advice, because most advice is always good.. but.. if one is going to buy a full-frame sensor camera, the d700 (unless it is much less than the reduced price) is not worth it... in my humble opinion. It is a model that is on its way out and really, the D800 is a much MUCH better choice. Yes, it is a lot more money, but we are already seeing the lowering of the price on it.
Not to mention, you cannot shoot video on the D700. Most will say "so" but.. if you ever decide you want to say, mix a time lapse with some video, well, get something else for the vid part.
with this said, the 700 is a great body and with that full frame sensor, it will really change the quality of a photograph (I do not want to debate the reasons why, though there are plenty).
Actually I'm looking into getting a DX on the side so I can get smaller details with my 400mm + teleconverters..... for bird photography.... so, yes, looking back
Typicaly with Migros and Coop specials which are at a good price are done to get people in the door. I have also looked for an item on special only to be told that it is sold out and told... would you consider this item instead?
did you see that D90 usage chart for this year? being a fan of the D90 as i have many friends who own it, I found it sad to see... but hopefully, it means more D7000s are out there and people are shooting more and more and more
I wish I could find this camera I would bre really interested in purchasing it... Here is a review link for the person who asked for the ad info (in German)
