What happened to it? Went there today and it’s gone. Did see something on google yesterday which said it was permanently closed, but another site said it was open and hubby looked at their actual site and that seemed to indicate it was still open too.
Have they shut their other places as well? Only one listed on their site is the new one at Sion.
Gives the impression they started an online store and centralised their business to Sion.
Tons of sites will keep indicating old by long gone stores open as used to be since they hardly ever update their shit. My parents closed their store more than 10 yrs ago, still there are plenty of sites showing opening times as usual.
Looking at the online stuff, the selection is very small. Hopefully it’s just because they’ve only got started with it. If not, I can’t see anyone bothering with it. If that’s supposed to become the main part of the business it’s likely to kill it off very soon.
Another one that closed a year or so ago was at Stans, NW (near Luzern). Shame, used to like these places. Last the I looked the one at Pratteln, BL was still operating. Oh, seems not any more, just the Sion shop listed on their website, as already mentioned.
There is also this place which sells genuine Swiss army surplus articles. They also organize an annual auction of surplus army vehicles which, I am given to understand, is quite an event.
I received a flyer in the mail today and thought of this thread. I've no affiliation with this store and have never been there.
The store Dick's Army Shop is holding a liquidation sale from 1-12 May at the Seelandhalle in Lyss (near Biel).
Looks like there's free parking, and they'll be open this Sunday.
According to the fine print, payment for items under 30 Francs must be in cash. Over 30 Francs you can use a PostFinance card or a Maestro. I think that means credit cards are not accepted.
There are a few other dates and locations listed on the website:
Went to the liquidation sale today and boy, was it busy. Picked up some stuff so worth the trip now we don’t have any Military Megastores around anymore.
