Mobility car sharing,really bad experience

Really bad experience with mobility.ch.

Yesterday I my mobility car was parked and when opened the door,I touched the other car that was parked too and did a very tiny scratch.

With the other car owner we filled the paperwork.it is just a tiny scratchy, but I understand,He had a brand new car.

Regarding the insurance,as per the mobility webpage"As a Mobility customer you are fully covered by third party, comprehensive and passenger insurance in the event of a loss event".

Well,as per Mobility, this scratch is not covered because the car was not in movement,,,,,(?)

So...why am I paying for an total price with this people if the insurance can not cover a simple scratch?.What would happen in a real accident?

Incredible......and the customer service very ,very poor.

I am going to cancel the contract with them.

Perhaps you should have chosen reduced liability

are you paying the rental with a credit card and if so what credit card?

you may be ready to thank me later

No,I am paying by Post, with the orange paper that Mobility send me

so you never paid anything via credit card? And opted for the least coverage insurance?

I think not.Mobility sends me the invoice with the rides and that orange paper that I normally pay at La Poste.

I guess ,as per your words that if I would pay with my credit card it could be covered.

I only paid with credit card the food of the restaurant where we were parked....

Well, if you think about it, this is basically the same as if you accidentally scratched the other car with your key while getting out of your car. Would you have asked your car insurance provider to cover that too?

Do you have personal liability insurance? If yes, get in touch with them and they *might* cover this. If not, sort it out ASAP. It won't help you for this case anymore, but this insurance type is one of the cheapest vis a vis the coverage you get and it is targeted towards accidentally damaging other people's property.

Finally, just because it is a small scratch it doesn't mean that the damage is small too. Unless the damage is absolutely superficial (e.g. you can't feel it with your fingernail) they usually need to repaint the entire panel to get it into the original condition.

I reckon your personal liability insurance should cover the cost to either/both cars (if, indeed, both were damaged), as neither of them are yours.

I sent the papers and the photo of the scratch ( almost invisible) to my personal liability insurance now. let's see what they answer.

Thank you very much for your help!!!

The question was whether you NEVER pay ANYTHING .. not the car but just something....

... and post the terms and conditions of your contract that seem relevant to you (or that are referred to by mobility). Would make life easier and we could answer rather than speculate... Cheers!

Ah,yes,I pay with my Visa almost everyday. And I have a Maestro too.

Thanks for your help.

A case for liability insurance

Mobility haven't done anything wrong

no. in principle mobility didn't do anything wrong. It's just the question whether their argument that the car was not moving is correct and to be heared. would have a look at the agreement

Be aware, if you do try to leave Mobility - you won't be able to have your deposit returned until January.

They're quite sticky that way...

We have just taken out a vehicle insurance & it clearly says parking damage is not insured so I imagine mobility insurance has the same type of thing.

The General Terms and Conditions state:

"The third-party liability insurance covers personal injury and property damage

caused to third parties by the driving of a Mobility vehicle , up to the agreed sums insured." (emphasis added).

https://www.mobility.ch/fileadmin/fi...2015_01_EN.pdf

It is a matter of interpretation whether opening the door of a parked car still counts as "driving" and if not whether this limitation in the GT&C's is actually valid.

Thank you for finding this Mica, I couldn't find any more detail on the normal cover on the website other than the general and fluffy wording. This interpretation seems quite sneaky, now what I expected from Mobility.

Might pay an extra 150 CHF per year to get the lower liability Pain in the ass when the subscription is done through work

Swiss car insurance, you have to add damage whilst parked as an extra.... weird when you come from a country where car insurance insures all damage to and by the car

yes very warm and fuzzy...
