does anyone know of some more innovative window design suppliers/manufactures in Switzerland?
I'm near Basel and wanting to upgrade and update the windows in my house but after visiting several local suppliers/manufacturers (and looking around at houses) it seems that there is very little innovation or choice in window design.
What see everywhere are essentially all the same basic design (not sure terminology): inward opening, vertically hinged.
Has anyone seen some innovative window suppliers with some other designs? Is there something preventing houses from having outward opening windows? Sliding/sash windows?
I am trying to put some sense in your post, maybe add what you actually want.
1. what kind of innovations are you expecting?
2. inward opening windows are better in areas with wind and rain
3. you can get completely custom made windows that would cater your wildest phantasies if you want. For example, you can check what kind of facade was done by Herzog de Meuron architects (Basel based office)
I mean, they are very innovative, extremely expensive but IMHO unnecessary
4. Sliding/sash windows are not an innovation, they did and still do exist.
The windows you are checking are probably for Swiss most acceptable combination of technical requirements, economic opportunities and aesthetical expectations of buyers build on imaginary traditional values. Often this is the smartest way to build, but of course, not necessary the best or the only viable.
