Just to clarify the meaning of "Morgen ist heute gestern", there is no mystery, nor even any word play. German grammar rules require the verb to be in the second position in the sentence, so whereas an English speaker would prefer to see "Morgen, heute ist gestern" (Tomorrow, today is (or will be -- as in English, the present tense is often used for the future) yesterday), the grammatically correct form is as per the billboards.
