I've tried taking Piriton, and using cortosine and savlon bit nothing relieves the pain. Can anyone suggest any remedies? I'm not getting much sleep and look like I've gone through several rounds with Rocky :-(
That said, however, this topic has been covered quite extensively already on the forum so perhaps you might find some useful antidotes, repellant suggestions etc amongst the threads I found when I ran the search " mosquitoes ".
I too suffer terribly when I get bitten here. They swell up to amazing sizes and are red hot to the touch I've not found anything that works yet as a treatment but I did try an unusual repellent on holiday and that worked a treat most of the time........dettol mixed with oil and white vinegar
Use Fenipic or similar. Antihisthamine gel that also contains a mild local anesthetic. Squirt on the bite the second it starts to itch. As long as I am fast it kills the bite within 15 minutes.
In your bedroom use the plugs you can get from Migros with the little bottle of liquid underneath. Stops anything from getting at you all night and they last forever (OK, about 2 months).
In a short time, the body (mind) begins to accept this irritation as being part of the "normal" balance of things, and it slowly slips more into the background, and seems less of a problem.
Alternatively, stick pins into an unaffected area of skin, as this will give a new pain source to concentrate on, thus detracting away from the mossie bites (better sterilise the pin first, though, otherwise will itch like a mossie bit through infection).
Anyway, don't worry too much ..... it's just an allergic reaction to the waste products of previously ingested animal or human blood, that the mossie is injecting into you, prior to filling up with your fresh red stuff.
For future prevention use Anti-Brum (available from the pharmacy). We used it in both Canada and Sweden and the mozzies pretty much left us alone.
You can also buy those slow burning coils which release a smoke which repels mosquitos - not great for indoors but put one on the balcony / window sill.
Heat up a spoon over a candle and press it to the bite, the heat will effectivly break down the venom.
(not red hot though)
Another grandma ́s remedy is to drip hot wax onto the itch, can voutch for that one.
Or go all star wars on the things with: http://www.dooyoo.de/insektenabwehr/...-1-st/1185968/
works a treat
Women, eh?
Not a poison, just an anti-coagulent they inject into you to stop the blood clotting. Unfortunately one that many people are allergic to.
